Shri Kali Stavan

नमामि कृष्णरूपिणीं कृष्णाङ्गयष्टि धारिणीम् । समग्र तत्वसागर भपारगह्वराम ॥

I pay my devotion to Goddess Kali who is the reflection of Krishna. She is the mail element of Mahasagar. Nobody can easily gather. But the worshipers can reach to her easily as she is the mother of her devotees, can a mother remain away from her sons? Nobody will find out the reasons. 

शिवा प्रभां समुज्जवलां स्फुरच्छशांक शेखरां । ललाटरत्न भास्करां जगत्प्रदीप्ति भास्कराम् ॥

She is Kalyan Swaroopi. Has a moon light on her forehead. She enlighters everybody’s mind. Forehead. She is equivalent to Lord Surya which enlightens the world. 

महेन्द्र कश्यपर्चितां सनत्कुमात संस्तुतां । सुरासुरेन्द्र वंदितो यथार्थ निर्मलादभुतां ॥

Mahendra and Kashyap prayed to her several times. Sants have preached her day and night. Devtas as well as Daano’s (Public) also worship her. She is distinctive and uncommon. 

अतर्क्यरोचिरूर्जितां विकारदोष वर्जितां । मुमुक्षुभिर्विचिन्तितां विशेषतत्व सूचितां ॥

Nobody can understand her. She is like a jyoti ( a ray of light). She is the one to provide name and fame, Mokhsha. She is the element of knowledge and can be recognised as so.

मृतास्थिनिर्मित स्त्रजां मृगेन्द्र वाहनाग्रजाम् । सुशुद्ध तत्वतोष्णां त्रिवेद परभूषणां ॥

The mala which the Devi wears or possesses is created with the bones of dead bodies. She travels on Mrugraaj Singh. She was born the first. She constitutes all the 3 Vedas.

भुजंग हार हारिणी कपालखंड घारिणीम् । सुधार्मि कोप कारणीं सुरेन्द्र वैरधातिनीम् ॥

She is the one to possess a necklace of snakes, holding a Kapaalkhand in her hand. Blesses her devotees and religious people. She always does good to people. She appears to be very beautiful when she wears Kapaal Mala.

कुठारपाशचापिनीं कृतान्त काममोदिनीं । शुभां कपाल मालिनीं सुवर्णकन्याशाखिनीं ॥

She possess the Kudhar Paal (Dhanush). She is the one to describe and give death. She always helps in the progess of the world. 

श्मशान भूमि वासिनीं द्निजेन्द्रमौलिभाविनीम् । तमोsन्धकार यामिनीं शिवस्वभाव कामिनीम् ॥

She resides on Samshaan Bhumi (cremation ground). Is preached by all the brahmans. Is like the darkness of night. She always helps in the progress.

सहस्त्र सूर्य्यराजिकां धनञ्जयोर्ग्रकारिकाम् । सुशुद्ध काल कंदलां सुभृंगवृन्दमन्जुलाम् ॥

She possess the power and light of a thousand Surya ( Sun). Is the main content of the world. She is aas beautiful as the colours of rainbow.

प्रजायिनीम प्रजावतीं नमामि मातरम् सतीम् । स्वकर्म कारिणे गतिं हरि प्रियाञ्च पार्वतीम् ॥

Is the one to create the Praja (public) and caretaker also. I pay my regards to such a devi. She is the icon of speed because of her bravery. She is as pure as powerful as the wife or Lord Shiva Shankar. It is said that such a friend of Goddess Parvati and Goddess Lakshmi. 

अनंतशक्तिकान्तिदां यशोsर्थभुक्तिमुक्तिदाम् ।पुन: पुन्जगद्धितां नमाम्यहङ सुरार्चिताम् ॥

Hey Devi! She is the one to provide with innumerable powers to encourgare Kanti, provider of health and wealth. She also gives Bhog as well as Moksh. Always devotes herself in the progress and success of the world. Because of this she is regularly worshipped by the devtas. I pay my devotion to you.

जयेश्वरि त्रिलोचने प्रसीद देवी पाहिमाम् । जयन्ति ते स्तुवन्ति ये शुभं लभन्त्यमोक्षत: ॥

Hey Goddess! I pay my devotion to you. Please shower me with your kindness. Protect  me. One who worships you always achieves success. They also attain moksh from you.

सदैव त हतद्बिष: परं भवन्ति सज्जुष: । जरा: परे शिवधुना प्रसाधि मां करोमि किम् ॥

Many enemies and devils have been destroyed. They achieve name and fame in the world. O Goddess! Now help me in  progressing. Mataji ! without you I cannot do anything.

अतीव मोहितात्मनो वृथा विचेष्टि तस्य मे । कुरू प्रसादितं मनो यथास्मि जन्म भंजन: ॥

Hey Mata! I am stuck up in a great greed. I am being unsuccessful. Bless me so that I can get rid of this life and birth as soon as possible. 

तथा भवन्तु ताका यथैव घोषितालका: इमां स्तुतिं ममेरितां पठन्ति कालिसाधक: ॥

Your devotees should always be winner and declared happy as Dheer and Veer. The preacher and believers of Goddess Kalo will read and preach his stuti.

 न ते पुन: सदुस्तरे पतन्ति मोहगह्वरे ॥

They will never fall in the pit of greed.

Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are the same

These days various people are debating about Shaivism and Vaishnavism. There's been certain leaders saying Lord Vishnu is great and some saying Lord Shiva is great. Veda Vyasa is the author of all the Vedas and Purans. He himself said Devi the mother of this whole universe including Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. He even said that without the recite of Devi Bhagavatam there is no liberation. Thus, the following stanza from Devi Bhagavatam proves that Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are the same.

कदाचिद् देवदेवो मां ध्यायत्यमितविक्रम: ।ध्यायाम्यहं च देवेशं शंकर त्रिपुरान्तकम् ॥ शिवस्याहं प्रिय: प्राण: शंकरस्तु तथा मम । उभयोरन्तरं नास्ति मिथ: संसक्तचेतस: ॥ नरक यान्ति ते नूनं ये द्विषन्ति महेश्वरम् । भक्ता मम विशालाक्षि सत्यमेतद् ब्रवीम्यहम् ॥

भगवान् विष्णु बोले – प्रिये ! मैं हृदयमें जिनका ध्यान कर रहा हूँ, उनका परिचय देता हूँ, सुनो । पार्वतीपति भगवान् शंकर सबसे प्रधना माने जाते हैं । तुरंत प्रसन्न हो जाना उनका स्वाभाविक गुण है ! उन देवधिदेवके पराक्रमकी कोई सीमा नहीं है । कभी तो ऐसा होता है कु त्रिपुरासुरका वध करनेवाले वे देवेश मेरा ध्यान करते हैं और मैं उनका करता हूँ । उनका प्रिय प्राण मैं हूँ और मेरे प्रिय प्राण वे हैं । हम दोनोंका चित्त परस्पर गुँथा हुआ है । अत: दोनोंमें किंचिन्मात्र भेद नहीं समझना चाहिये । विशाललोचने ! जो भगवान् शंकरसे द्वेष करते हैं, वे मेरे भक्त ही क्यों न हों; किंतु नरकमें जाना उनके लिये अनिवार्य है । मैं यह बलकुल सत्य बता रहा हूँ ।

श्रीदेव्यथर्वशीर्षम्

ॐ सर्वे वै देवा देवीमुपतस्थुः कासि त्वं महादेवीति ।।१।।

साब्रवीत् - अहं ब्रह्मस्वरूपिणी । मत्तः प्रकृतिपुरुषात्मकं जगत् । शून्यं चाशून्यं च ।।२।।

अहमानन्दानानन्दौ । अहं विज्ञानाविज्ञाने । अहं ब्रह्माब्रह्मणी वेदितव्ये । अहं पञ्चभूतान्यपञ्चभूतानि । अहमखिलं जगत् ।।३।।

वेदोऽहमवेदोऽहम् । विद्याहमविद्याहम् । अजाहमनजाहम् । अधश्चोर्ध्वं च तिर्यक् चाहम् ।।४।।

अहं रुद्रेभिर्वसुभिश्चरामि । अहमादित्यैरुत विश्वेदेवैः । अहं मित्रावरुणावुभौ बिभर्मि । अहमिन्द्राग्नी अहमश्विनावुभौ ।।५।।

अहं सोमं त्वष्टारं पूषणं भगं दधामि । अहं विष्णुमुरुक्रमं ब्रह्माणमुत प्रजापतिं दधामि ।।६।।

अहं दधामि द्रविणं हविष्मते सुप्राव्ये यजमानाय सुन्वते । अहं राष्ट्री सङ्मनी वसूनां चिकितुषी प्रथमा यज्ञियानाम् । अहं सुवे पितरमस्य मूर्धन्मम योनिरप्स्वन्तः समुद्रे । य एवं वेद स दैवीं सम्पदमाप्नोति ।।७।।

ते देवा अब्रुवन् –

नमो देव्यै महादेव्यै शिवायै सततं नमः ।
नमः प्रकृत्यै भद्रायै नियताः प्रणताः स्म ताम् ।।८।।

तामग्निवर्णां तपसा ज्वलन्तीं वैरोचनीं कर्मफलेषु जुष्टाम् ।
दुर्गां देवीं शरणं प्रपद्यामहेऽसुरान्नाशयित्र्यै ते नमः ।।९।।

देवीं वाचमजनयन्त देवास्तां विश्वरूपाः पशवो वदन्ति ।
सा नो मन्द्रेषमूर्जं दुहाना धेनुर्वागस्मानुप सुष्टुतैतु ।।१०।।

कालरात्रीं ब्रह्मस्तुतां वैष्णवीं स्कन्दमातरम् ।
सरस्वतीमदितिं दक्षदुहितरं नमामः पावनां शिवाम् ।।११।।

महालक्ष्म्यै च विद्महे सर्वशक्त्यै च धीमहि ।
तन्नो देवी प्रचोदयात् ।।१२।।

अदितिर्ह्यजनिष्ट दक्ष या दुहिता तव ।
तां देवा अन्वजायन्त भद्रा अमृतबन्धवः ।।१३।।

कामो योनिः कमला वज्रपाणिर्गुहा हसा मातरिश्वाभ्रमिन्द्रः ।
पुनर्गुहा सकला मायया च पुरूच्यैषा विश्वमातादिविद्योम् ।।१४।।

एषाऽऽत्मशक्तिः । एषा विश्वमोहिनी । पाशाङ्कुशधनुर्बाणधरा । एषा श्रीमहाविद्या । य एवं वेद स शोकं तरति ।।१५।।

नमस्ते अस्तु भगवति मातरस्मान् पाहि सर्वतः ।।१६।।

सैषाष्टौ वसवः । सैषैकादश रुद्राः । सैषा द्वादशादित्याः । सैषा विश्वेदेवाः सोमपा असोमपाश्च । सैषा यातुधाना असुरा रक्षांसि पिशाचा यक्षाः सिद्धाः । सैषा सत्त्वरजस्तमांसि । सैषा ब्रह्मविष्णुरुद्ररूपिणी । सैषा प्रजापतीन्द्रमनवः । सैषा ग्रहनक्षत्रज्योतींसि । कलाकाष्ठादिकालरूपिणी । तामहं प्रणौमि नित्यम् ।।

पापापहारिणीं देवीं भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदायिनीम् ।
अनन्तां विजयां शुद्धां शरण्यां शिवदां शिवाम् ।।१७।।

वियदीकारसंयुक्तं वीतिहोत्रसमन्वितम् ।
अर्धेन्दुलसितं देव्या बीजं सर्वार्थसाधनम् ।।१८।।

एवमेकाक्षरं ब्रह्म यतयः शुद्धचेतसः ।
ध्यायन्ति परमानन्दमया ज्ञानाम्बुराशयः ।।१९।।

वाङ्माया ब्रह्मसूस्तस्मात् षष्ठं वक्त्रसमन्वितम् ।
सूर्योऽवामश्रोत्रबिन्दुसंयुक्तष्टात्तृतीयकः ।
नारायणेन संमिश्रो वायुश्चाधरयुक् ततः ।
विच्चे नवार्णकोऽर्णः स्यान्महदानन्ददायकः ।।२०।।

हृत्पुण्डरीकमध्यस्थां प्रातः सूर्यसमप्रभाम् ।
पाशाङ्कुशधरां सौम्यां वरदाभयहस्तकाम् ।
त्रिनेत्रां रक्तवसनां भक्तकामदुघां भजे ।।२१।।

नमामि त्वां महादेवीं महाभयविनाशिनीम् ।
महादुर्गप्रशमनीं महाकारुण्यरूपिणीम् ।।२२।।

यस्याः स्वरूपं ब्रह्मादयो न जानन्ति तस्मादुच्यते अज्ञेया । यस्या अन्तो न लभ्यते तस्मादुच्यते अनन्ता । यस्या लक्ष्यं नोपलक्ष्यते तस्मादुच्यते अलक्ष्या । यस्या जननं नोपलभ्यते तस्मादुच्यते अजा । एकैव सर्वत्र वर्तते तस्मादुच्यते एका । एकैव विश्वरूपिणी तस्मादुच्यते नैका । अतएवोच्यते अज्ञेयानन्तालक्ष्याजैका नैकेति ।।२३।।

मन्त्राणां मातृका देवी शब्दानां ज्ञानरूपिणी ।
ज्ञानानां चिन्मयातीता शून्यानां शून्यसाक्षिणी ।
यस्याः परतरं नास्ति सैषा दुर्गा प्रकीर्तिता ।।२४।।

तां दुर्गां दुर्गमां देवीं दुराचारविघातिनीम् ।
नमामि भवभीतोऽहं संसारार्णवतारिणीम् ।।२५।।

इदमथर्वशीर्षं योऽधीते स पञ्चाथर्वशीर्षजपफलमाप्नोति । इदमथर्वशीर्षमज्ञात्वा योऽर्चां स्थापयति - शतलक्षं प्रजप्त्वापि सोऽर्चासिद्धिं न विन्दति । शतमष्टोत्तरं चास्य पुरश्चर्याविधिः स्मृतः ।

दशवारं पठेद् यस्तु सद्यः पापैः प्रमुच्यते ।
महादुर्गाणि तरति महादेव्याः प्रसादतः ।।२६।।

सायमधीयानो दिवसकृतं पापं नाशयति । प्रातरधीयानो रात्रिकृतं पापं नाशयति । सायं प्रातः प्रयुञ्जानो अपापो भवति । निशीथे तुरीयसन्ध्यायां जप्त्वा वाक्सिद्धिर्भवति । नूतनायां प्रतिमायां जप्त्वा देवतासान्निध्यं भवति । प्राणप्रतिष्ठायां जप्त्वा प्राणानां प्रतिष्ठा भवति । भौमाश्विन्यां महादेवीसन्निधौ जप्त्वा महामृत्युं तरति । स महामृत्युं तरति य एवं वेद । इत्युपनिषत् ।।

नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते - Durga Saptashati (दुर्गा सप्तशती) Chapter 11 - Hymn to Narayani

I wanna share a video which is from chapter 11 of Durga Saptashati or Chandi Path or Devi Mahatmyam. I could have just posted the lyrics only but gaining extra knowledge is not a harm. Here I present Chapter 11 from Durga Saptashati. The hyme to Narayani is very beautiful.

॥ अथ एकादशोऽध्यायः ॥

धऽयानम्
ॐ बालरविद्युतिमिन्दुकिरिटां तुङ्गकुचा नयनत्रययुक्ताम्।
स्मेरमुखीं वरदाङ्कुशपाशाभीतिकरां प्रभजे भुवनेशीम्॥

‘ॐ’ ऋषिरुवाच ॥१॥

देव्या हते तत्र महासुरेन्द्रे
सेन्द्राः सुरा वह्निपुरोगमास्ताम् ।
कात्यायनीं तुष्टुवुरिष्टलाभा-
द्विकासिवक्त्राब्जविकाशिताशाः ॥२॥

देवि प्रपन्नार्तिहरे प्रसीद
प्रसीद मातर्जगतोऽखिलस्य ।
प्रसीद विश्वेश्वरि पाहि विश्वं
त्वमीश्वरी देवि चराचरस्य ॥३॥

आधारभूता जगतस्त्वमेका
महीस्वरूपेण यतः स्थितासि ।
अपां स्वरूपस्थितया त्वयैत-
दाप्यायते कुत्स्नमलङ्घयवीर्ये ॥४॥

त्वं वैष्णवीशक्तिरनन्तवीर्या
विश्वस्य बीजं परमासि माया ।
सम्मोहितं देवि समस्तमेत-
त्वं वै प्रसन्ना भुवि मुक्तिहेतुः ॥५॥

विद्याः समस्तास्तव देवि भेदाः
स्त्रियः समस्ताः सकला जगत्सु ।
त्वयैकया पूरितमम्बयैतत्
का ते स्तुतिः स्तव्यपरा परोक्तिः ॥६॥

सर्वभूता यदा देवी भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदायिनी ।
त्वं स्तुता स्तुतये का वा भवन्तु परमोक्तयः ॥७॥

सर्वस्य बुद्धिरूपेण जनस्य हृदि संस्थिते ।
स्वर्गापवर्गदे देवि नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥८॥

कलाकाष्ठादिरूपेण परिणामप्रदायिनि ।
विश्वस्योपरतौ शक्ते नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥९॥

सर्वमङ्गलमाङ्गल्ये शिवे सर्वाथर्साधिके ।
शरण्ये त्र्यम्बके गौरि नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥१०॥

सृष्टिस्थितिविनाशानां शक्तिभूते सनातनि ।
गुणाश्रये गुणमये नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥११॥

शरणागतदीनार्तपरित्राणपरायणे ।
सर्वस्यार्तिहरे देवि नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥१२॥

हंसयुक्तविमानस्थे ब्रह्माणीरूपधारिणि ।
कौशाम्भःक्षरिके देवि नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥१३॥

त्रिशूलचन्द्राहिधरे महावृषभवाहिनि ।
माहेश्वरीस्वरूपेण नारायणि नमोऽस्तुते ॥१४॥

मयूरकुक्कुटवृते महाशक्तिधरेऽनघे ।
कौमारीरूपसंस्थाने नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥१५॥

शङ्खचक्रगदाशार्ङ्गगृहीतपरमायुधे ।
प्रसीद वैष्णवीरूपे नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥१६॥

गृहीतोग्रमहाचक्रे दंष्ट्रोद्धृतवसुन्धरे ।
वराहरूपिणि शिवे नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥१७॥

नृसिंहरूपेणोग्रेण हन्तुं दैत्यान् कृतोद्यमे ।
त्रैलोक्यत्राणसहिते नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥१८॥

किरीटिनि महावज्र सहस्रनयनोज्ज्वले ।
वृत्रप्राणहरे चैन्द्रि नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥१९॥

शिवदूतीस्वरूपेण हतदैत्यमहाबले ।
घोररूपे महारावे नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥२०॥

दंष्ट्राकरालवदने शिरोमालाविभूषणे ।
चामुण्डे मुण्डमथने नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥२१॥

लक्ष्मि लज्जे महाविद्ये श्रद्धे पुष्टि स्वधे ध्रुवे ।
महारात्रि महाऽविद्ये नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥२२॥

मेधे सरस्वति वरे भूति बाभ्रवि तामसि ।
नियते त्वं प्रसीदेशे नारायणि नमोऽस्तुते ॥२३॥

सर्वस्वरूपे सर्वेशे सर्वेशक्तिसमन्विते ।
भयेभ्यस्त्राहि नो देवि दुर्गे देवि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥२४॥

एतत्ते वदनं सौम्यं लोचनत्रयभूषितम् ।
पातु नः सर्वभीतिभ्यः कात्यायनि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥२५॥

ज्वालाकरालमत्युग्रमशेषासुरसूदनम् ।
त्रिशूलं पातु नो भीतेर्भद्रकालि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥२६॥

हिनस्ति दैत्यतेजांसि स्वनेनापूर्य या जगत् ।
सा घण्टा पातु नो देवि पापेभ्यो नः सुतानिव ॥२७॥

असुरामृग्वसापङ्कचर्चिंतस्ते करोज्ज्वलः ।
शुभाय खड्गो भवतु चण्डिके त्वां नता वयम् ॥२८॥

रोगानशेषानपहंसि तुष्टा
रुष्टा तु कामान् सकलानभीष्टान् ।
त्वामाश्रितानां न विपन्नराणां
त्वामाश्रिता ह्याश्रयतां प्रयान्ति ॥२९॥

एतत्कृतं यत्कदनं त्वयाद्य
धर्मद्विषां देवि महासुराणाम् ।
रूपैरनेकैर्बहुधात्ममूर्तिम्
कृत्वाम्बिके तत्प्रकरोति कान्या ॥३०॥

विद्यासु शास्त्रेषु विवेकदीपे-
ष्वाद्येषु वाक्येषु च का त्वदन्या ।
ममत्वगर्तेऽतिमहान्धकारे
विभ्रामयत्येतदतीव विश्वम् ॥३१॥

रक्षांसि यत्रोग्रविषाश्च नागा
यत्रारयो दस्युबलानि यत्र ।
दावानलो यत्र तथाब्धिमद्ये
तत्र स्थिता त्वं परिपासि विश्वम् ॥३२॥

विश्वेश्वरि त्वं परिपासि विश्वं
विश्वात्मिका धारयसीति विश्वम् ।
विश्वेशवन्द्या भवती भवन्ति
विश्वाश्रया ये त्वयि भक्तिनम्राः ॥३३॥

देवि प्रसीद परिपालय नोऽरि-
भीतेर्नित्यं यथासुरवधादधुनैव सद्यः ।
पापानि सर्वजगतां प्रशमं नयाशु
उत्पातपाकजनितांश्च महोपसर्गान् ॥३४॥

प्रणतानां प्रसीद त्वं देवि विश्वार्तिहारिणि ।
त्रैलोक्यवासिनामीड्ये लोकानां वरदा भव ॥३५॥

देव्युवाच ॥३६॥

वरदाहं सुरगणा वरं यन्मनसेच्छथ ।
तं वृणुध्वं प्रयच्छामि जगतामुपकारकम् ॥३७॥

देवा ऊचुः ॥३८॥

सर्वाबाधाप्रशमनं त्रैलोक्यस्याखिलेश्वरि ।
एवमेव त्वया कार्यमस्मद्वैरिविनाशनम् ॥३९॥

देव्युवाच ॥४०॥

वैवस्वतेऽन्तरे प्राप्ते अष्टाविंशतिमे युगे ।
शुम्भो निशुम्भश्चैवान्यावुत्पत्स्येते महासुरौ ॥४१॥

नन्दगोपगृहे जाता यशोदागर्भसम्भवा ।
ततस्तौ नाशयिष्यामि विन्ध्याचलनिवासिनी ॥४२॥

पुनरप्यतिरौद्रेण रूपेण पृथिवीतले ।
अवतीर्य हनिष्यामि वैप्रचित्तांस्तु दानवान् ॥४३॥

भक्षयन्त्याश्च तानुग्रान् वैप्रचितान् महासुरान् ।
रक्ता दन्ता भविष्यन्ति दाडिमीकुसुमोपमाः ॥४४॥

ततो मां देवताः स्वर्गे मर्त्यलोके च मानवाः ।
स्तुवन्तो व्याहरिष्यन्ति सततं रक्तदन्तिकाम् ॥४५॥

भूयश्च शतवार्षिक्यामनावृष्टयामनम्भसि ।
मुनिभिः संस्तुता भूमौ सम्भविष्यामययोनिजा ॥४६॥

ततः शतेन नेत्राणां निरीक्षिष्यामि यन्मुनीन् ।
कीर्तयिष्यन्ति मनुजाः शताक्षीमिति मां ततः ॥४७॥

ततोऽहमखिलं लोकमात्मदेहसमुद्भवैः ।
भरिष्यामि सुराः शाकैरावृष्टेः प्राणधारकैः ॥४८॥

शाकम्भरीति विख्यातिं तदा यास्याम्यहं भुवि ।
तत्रैव च वधिष्यामि दुर्गमाख्यं महासुरम् ॥४९॥

दुर्गादेवीति विख्यातं तन्मे नाम भविष्यति ।
पुनश्चाहं यदा भीमं रूपं कृत्वा हिमाचले ॥५०॥

रक्षांसि क्षययिष्यामि मुनीनां त्राणकारणात् ।
तदा मां मुनयः सर्वे स्तोष्यन्त्यानम्रमूर्तयः ॥५१॥

भीमादेवीति विख्यातं तन्मे नाम भविष्यति ।
यदारुणाख्यस्त्रैलोक्ये महाबाधां करिष्यति ॥५२॥

तदाऽहं भ्रामरं रूपं कृत्वासङ्खयेयषट्पदम् ।
त्रैलोक्यस्य हितार्थाय वधिष्यामि महासुरम् ॥५३॥

भ्रामरीति च मां लोकास्तदा स्तोष्यन्ति सर्वतः ।
इत्थं यदा यदा बाधा दानवोत्था भविष्यति ॥५४॥

तदा तदाऽवतीर्याहं करिष्याम्यरिसंक्षयम् ॥ॐ॥५५॥

॥इति श्रीमार्कण्डेयपुराणे सावर्णिके मन्वन्तरे देवीमाहात्म्ये नारायणिस्तुतिर्नाम एकादशोऽध्यायः ॥

Translation:

The Rishi said: When the great lord of asuras was slain there by the Devi, Indra and other devas led by Agni, with their object fulfilled and their cheerful faces illumining the quarters, praised her, (Katyayani). The devas said: 'O Devi, you who remove the sufferings of your suppliants, be gracious. Be propitious, O Mother of the whole world. Be gracious, O Mother of the universe. Protect the universe. You are, O Devi, the ruler of all that is moving and unmoving. You are the sole substratum of the world, because you subsist in the form of the earth. By you, who exist in the shape of water, all this (universe) is gratified, O Devi of inviolable valour! You are the power of Vishnu, and have endless valour. You are the primeval maya, which is the source of the universe; by you all this (universe) has been thrown into an illusion. O Devi. If you become gracious, you become the cause of final emancipation in this world.

Salutation be to you, O Devi Narayani, O you who abide as intelligence in the hearts of all creatures, and bestow enjoyment and liberation. Salutation be to you, O Narayani, O you who, in the form of minutes, moments and other divisions of time, bring about change in things, and have (thus) the power to destroy the universe. Salutation be to you O Narayani, O you who are the good of all good, O auspicious Devi, who accomplish every object, the giver of refuge, O three eyed Gauri! Salutation be to you, O Narayani, you who have the power of creation, sustenance and destruction and are eternal. You are the substratum and embodiment of the three gunas. Salutation be to you, O Narayani, O you who are intent on saving the dejected and distressed that take refuge under you O you, Devi, who removes the sufferings of all!

Salutation be to you, O Narayani, O you who are good fortune, modesty, great wisdom, faith, nourishment and Svadha, O you who are immovable O you, great Night and great Illusion. Salutation be to you, O Narayani, O you who are intelligence and Sarasvati, O best one, prosperity, consort of Vishnu, dark one, the great nature, be propitious. O Queen of all, you who exist in the form of all, and possess every might, save us from error, O Devi. Salutation be to you, Devi Durga! May this benign countenance of yours adorned with three eyes, protect us from all fears.

When satisfied, you destroy all illness but when wrathful you (frustrate) all the longed-for desires. No calamity befalls men who have sought you. Those who have sought you become verily a refuge of others. Who is there except you in the sciences, in the scriptures, and in the Vedic sayings to light the lamp of discrimination? (Still) you cause this universe to whirl about again and again within the dense darkness of the depths of attachment. Where raksasas and snakes of virulent poison (are), where foes and hosts of robbers (exist), where forest conflagrations (occur), there and in the mid-sea, you stand and save the world. O Queen of the universe, you protect the universe. As the self of the universe, you support the universe. You are the (goddess) worthy to be adored by the Lord of the universe. Those who bow in devotion to you themselves become the refuge of the universe. O Devi, be pleased and protect us always from fear of foes, as you have done just now by the slaughter of asuras. And destroy quickly the sins of all worlds and the great calamities, which have sprung from the maturing of evil portents. O Devi you who remove the afflictions of the universe, be gracious to us who have bowed to you. O you worthy of adoration by the dwellers of the three worlds, be boon-giver to the worlds.

The Devi said: O Devas, I am prepared to bestow a boon. Choose whatever boon you desire in your mind, for the welfare of the world. I shall grant it. The devas said: ' O Queen of all, in this same manner, you must destroy all our enemies and all the afflictions of three worlds.’ The Devi said: 'When the twenty-eighth age has arrived during the period of Avaisvsvata Manu, two other great asuras, Shumbha and Nishumbha will be born. Then born from the womb of Yashoda, in the home of cowherd Nanda, and dwelling on the Vindhya mountains, I will destroy them both. Thus whenever trouble arises due to the advent of the danavas, I shall incarnate and destroy the foes.'

Here ends the eleventh chapter called 'Hymn to Narayani' of Devi-Mahatmyam in Markandeya Ppurana, during the period of Savarni, the Manu.
